Noosa Council has recently engaged Shaun to work alongside staff to assist in the drafting and implementation of its Urban Greening Implementation Plan. This ambitious plan seek to achieve a goal or 45% shading of urban areas to assist in cooling due to heat events arising from climate change. The technical background work accomplished to date includes review of street tree specifications, resilience analysis of current preferred landscaping species to future state climate, draft verge planting guidelines, consideration of climate relief zones and project planning for a pilot urban cooling street tree planting program. The work will inform preparation of a proposed Urban Greening Master Plan for urban areas of Noosa, which will foresee significant new investment in street tree planting program in urban areas across Noosa.
